Damn the leaks. Damn the rumors. Perhaps the worst-kept secret, sure, but today, Bethesda and Virtuos (company that handled the remastering) officially revealed that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is not only legit but has been released for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, as well as Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
Now with Unreal Engine 5 running on top of the original game, Oblivion has been updated with various quality-of-life improvements, not to mention several changes to gameplay, such as an updated stamina system, an overhauled user interface, revised first-person and third-person camera, and more. And yes, those classic voice-over lines and that tricky lock-picking mini-game are still intact.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is priced at $49.99 across all platforms and also includes the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions. It’s also available on Xbox and PC Game Pass, so if you’re subscribed to either, you’re already set to play.
As for me, I never played the original The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. When the game was released, I was busy playing other games like Quake and Unreal Tournament 2004 (it was pretty much the only game I played for a very long time). So, for me, this will be a first-time experience. From what I’ve heard, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was an eye-opening adventure, so it’ll be exciting to play it for the first time.
