The Tekken 8 development team has brought news of when to expect the new changes and the addition of Anna Williams. For season pass holders, Anna is available now, but will be available for purchase on April 2nd for everyone else. The first Season 2 character and Nina’s eternal rival by blood and guns will be coming. The team decided to discuss this last week with Katsuhiro Harada, Kohei Ikeda (Nakatsu), and Michael Murray to break this down.
The servers are set to go down later today at 23:30 CEST / 14:30 PDT / April 1st 06:30 JST, 2:30 p.m. PDT, and 5:30 p.m. EDT. Along with these changes, current replays will not work after this. New moves and adjustments will also be incoming, such as a new evasive low treatment.

As for the changes to the mechanics, according to feedback from the community, including Button Check, a whopping 1500 changes might be added to the game’s next build. Many state that it should be a “cry before try” situation, but with hope, there is positive feedback on what’s coming. Kohei Ikeda of the Tekken Project chimed in, also, and brought receipts of the first season with character matchups to illustrate what’s expected. .
In Season 2, I have spoken in the TEKKEN Talk Live and interview videos about the upcoming defensive improvements. However, I feel that I haven’t fully conveyed the details and the significance of these changes.
Season 2 introduces major system changes to sidestepping and movement mechanics:
You can now sidestep toward the foreground while in a crouching state.
You can complete the input for a side walk using input buffering.I would like to explain how these changes will affect matches using some video samples. Of course, I fully understand that the effectiveness of these adjustments may vary depending on factors like the character’s size, their sidestep and sidewalk performance, and the axis situation when moves hit or are blocked.
There may also be scenarios where a safer and simpler option than sidestepping is available. Please keep in mind that these videos are simply reference examples to demonstrate how the increased sidestep and sidewalk options will contribute to defensive improvements. The sample video and explanation can be found in the thread.
