Today’s the day many Tekken fans have been waiting for. As many tidbits on how the Tekken 8 story will go down have been sprinkled throughout the year, the state of their world has been in a state of disarray since the events of Tekken 6. At that point, even the United Nations themselves were no match for the might of the three-way struggle. The Mishima Zaibatsu, G-Corp, and the rebellion are in a stalemate. Bandai Namco is doing us a bit of a solid by releasing the story trailer and Tekken 8 PS5 demo today to clear this up.
Check out the trailer and special deep dive from Xaiver Woods, Katsuhiro Harada, and Steve Murray. WARNING: this one contains the first chapter playthrough at the very end.
Here’s the Story Trailer on its’ own:
A war is coming, and it seems that everyone is getting involved. Steve dodging bullets, the armies going in on the battlefield, and of course – the Devils about to collide. And… who’s better for coffee branding? Even Old man T-Pain…err Leroy is giving positive words of advice, and daps, in this trailer. All behind the opera musical score to indicate this is clearly the climax of the 3 decade storyline that even the Guiness Book of Records said is the “the longest running in gaming history without any reboots.”
What Are They Saying?
Mind you that if this is your first time watching any Tekken based story cinematic, and you’re scratching your head as to why everyone is speaking different languages: it’s done on purpose. Nearly everyone in the game speaks a different language. According to Harada, everyone can comprehend everyone in the Tekken series. From Kuma and King growls to Miguel’s Spanish. Harada has gone on record to explain some of it. Especially when Lars and Xiaoyu speak Japanese, it’s best to keep to the captions for this.
The Tekken 8 Demo is available right now for the PlayStation 5, while Xbox X | S and Steam’s version will be available on the December 21st.
