Elena was one of the standout characters to hit the World Warrior scene in Street Fighter III: New Generation back in 1997. Sure – Fatal Fury’s Richard Meyer is probably the first Capoeira fighter ever to be created for 2D fighting games, but Elena’s background, stage, and moveset were unique enough to take notice. Her teaser trailer today seems to be no different.
It seems as though Elena is going full Capoeira in her attire with the abadas pants. Compared to her original appearance, the hair seems to be longer than before, and the bandana seems to be new, too. And of course, this is considered the “shoes on” Street Fighter, so Elena’s getting sandals, too. Her new stage seems to be sharing that of her 2nd Impact appearance with the night sky in Africa and the musical instruments. Animals are here, too. She’s got her original moveset as seen in her teaser so far, if this is anything to look a,t since this is considered her World Tour trailer.
The real question would be what motivates Elena to step into Metro City. I’m sure she’s done with schooling abroad in Japan by now. Maybe she’s looking forward to catching up with her loneliest friend in the Street Fighter story. I’m sure he’ll be glad to see her. We will, too, when the new gameplay trailer drops in the coming months.
Elena arrives on the same day as both the Year 1 – 2 Fighters Edition and the Nintendo Switch 2. Elena is a part of the Year 2 package with M. Bison, Mai, and Terry. After Elena’s release, Year 3 might be revealed, also.
