The legendary shonen manga, One Piece, is receiving a live action series that’s coming to Netflix. The story will follow Monkey D. Luffy as he searches for the legendary treasure, One Piece, and become the next King of the Pirates.
The production was announced years ago back in 2017 but we’ve recently gotten updates on the project. The first season has been confirmed to have 10 episodes. It will be produced by Tomorrow Studios-also responsible for the Netflix live action Cowboy Bebop, and Shueisha. Additionally, the production crew includes Steven Maeda (The X-Files) as showrunner/writer and Matt Owens (Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD) as a writer. They will both serve as executive producers, as well as Becky Clements and Marty Adelstein from Tomorrow Studios.

Most importantly, series creator Eichiro Oda will be on board as a producer. As a fan, this gives me great hope in the project.
