After being delayed by two weeks, Nintendo has revealed that it will start taking pre-orders for its upcoming next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, on April 24, 2025. Much to my surprise, the console will not see any price hike and will still be priced at $449.99 for the Switch 2 and $499.99 for the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be available for sale via Nintendo’s online store and retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, and Target, but Amazon has not been mentioned yet.
These consoles are expected to sell out damned fast, regardless of if it’s from actual gamers or scaplers.
What else hasn’t been changed is the price of the games but some of the accessories did see a price increase, as you can see below.
- Nintendo Switch 2 – $449.99
- Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle – $499.99
- Mario Kart World – $79.99
- Donkey Kong Bananza – $69.99
- Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller – $84.99
- Joy-Con 2 Pair – $94.99
- Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip – $39.99
- Joy-Con 2 Strap – $13.99
- Joy-Con 2 Wheel Set – $24.99
- Nintendo Switch 2 Camera – $54.99
- Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set – $119.99
- Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case & Screen Protector – $39.99
- Nintendo Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case – $84.99
- Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter – $34.99
- Samsung microSD Express Card – 256GB for Nintendo Switch™ 2 – $59.99
So there you have it. After being delayed by two weeks due to tariffs by the U.S. President, Nintendo is back on the menu. Are you looking to attempt to get your hands on a Switch 2, or will you still be out on the sidelines, waiting to see how things turn out?
As for me, I wasn’t initially interested, but that tech… I need to see how the system performs, and I’d be lying if I didn’t want to get my hands on Mario Kart World. Now, if Metroid Prime 4: Beyond were a day one release, then I’d have to murder someone to get my hands on a Switch 2. No lie, I’m being serious here.
I do have a concern about certain Switch 2 games being priced too high, and I’ll stick to that. I’m worried what this could do to the gaming industry and could lead to a crash if others follow suit, but we’ll have to wait and see.
