Nintendo has announced that it will host a Nintendo Direct that will take place on February 21st, 2024. If you’ve listened to the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast over the course of 2024 (and I hope you have!), you’ll know that the story that my co-hosts and I dreaded the most was rumors about the potentially upcoming Nintendo Direct. They took many forms via various sources, contradicting one another outright.
We wondered if the news would EVER be proven true. Well, just about an hour ago, Nintendo officially revealed a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase on their Twitter account. Thanks to an official announcement, we know we’ll get that rumored Nintendo Direction.
A #NintendoDirect: Partner Showcase is coming! Watch on-demand via YouTube on 2/21 at 6am PT for around 25 mins of info focused on #NintendoSwitch games coming in the first half of 2024 from our publishing and development partners.

So yes, this is a Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, not a “Mini Direct” or a regular Direct. This will not be a live stream but a recorded event as well.
That means that we’ll only see third-party titles for the Nintendo Switch, and the tweet even states that these titles will be for the “first half of 2024.” So, unlike the Indie World’s we’ve gotten over the years, there will be a focus on the titles that are shown.
On the one hand, this could be good because, so far, the Switch hasn’t had any big 3rd party announcements for this year. No exclusives, no timed exclusives, and the system hasn’t gotten key multiplatform releases like with Persona 3 Reload. However, as many will likely note, past Partner Showcases have been incredibly lackluster. We’ll find out this Wednesday which it is.
