If you’re a fan of 2K’s Mafia franchise like me, you’re probably waiting for the first glimpse of gameplay from the upcoming Mafia: The Old Country. Well, I’ve got some good news: we won’t be waiting much longer for our first look at gameplay. In a post on social media, the official Mafia Game account has announced “The silence is nearly over,” and Mafia: The Old Country’s Official Gameplay Trailer will release on May 8th at 11 am ET/8 am PT/4 pm BST. Alongside this, just a few hours later at PAX East, there will be a developer panel at 2 pm ET, giving us some extra details about the game.
The silence is nearly over.
Get ready – May 8 marks the next chapter. #MafiaTheOldCountry

I can’t wait to see what Mafia: The Old Country has to offer in terms of gameplay. With the game set in a much different time period and a different country altogether (it’s in the name), I’m expecting to see at least a few major differences between Mafia: The Old Country and the series last release, Mafia III. Personally, I enjoyed Mafia III for what it was, although games have moved on a lot since its release in 2016. If a recent leak is anything to go by, Mafia: The Old Country isn’t too far away, and here’s hoping it can make a great impression.
I’m sure many players will be waiting for 2K’s brother (by ownership), Rockstar Games, to release anything from GTA 6, this time, they’ve seemingly been beaten to the punch. Whether Mafia: The Old Country can scratch that open-world crime itch we all have and fill the gaping hole in the current market remains to be seen. I’m just happy we won’t be waiting too much longer to see gameplay.
