Golden Sun Developer In “Late Stage Work” Of Newest Game

But will it be something fans really want???
By Todd BlackJuly 12, 2025
Golden Sun

As I’ve noted quite a bit in the last week or so, one of the things that Nintendo has that others don’t is teams of developers who consistently make great games that also happen to sell well. So, with the Switch 2 being in a place where we don’t know what all the top teams are doing, speculation is running wild about what they might be making. As noted by Reddit, we MIGHT know of one team that’ll be revealing something soon. That team is Camelot Software, which is the team behind Golden Sun and various Mario sports titles.

The Reddit post in question notes that the team is in “Late Stage Development Work” for their latest title. What is that title…? We don’t know. Most would fairly guess that it’s another Mario sports game, especially since the team’s last one, Mario Golf Super Rush, sold nearly 3 million units on Nintendo Switch.

However, there are many, including a certain Nintendo Entertainment Podcast co-host of mine, who hope that the game will be a Golden Sun remake or continuation. Will we get that? It’s hard to say. The team’s President has stated that RPGs are just as important to the crew as sports titles. So, you never know…

Camelot Software currently has 40 employees. They are one of the smaller Nintendo aligned teams. They updated their website highlighting every game they've ever developed.
