Its rather unfortunate to be excited about the launch of a game only for it to be suddenly delayed on your preferred platform. Such is the case with Bad Guitar Studio’s Fragpunk, which announced early this morning that due to technical issues found while optimizing and adapting the game the decision has been made to delay Fragpunk indefinitely on consoles.
The free-to-play title will still launch on PC as scheduled, tomorrow March 6, on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. However, having to delay the game for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 especially for those who paid for the $10 pre-order bundle. Publisher Netease is at least offering compensation for those that shelled out the cash.
We will provide all rewards gained via engagement, beginning from the start of Season 1 until the console version goes live (including in-game currencies, cosmetics, exp, and more). More detailed information will be shared in future announcements.
The pre-orders are also being refunded to those players and compensation of $10 in in-game currency will be given to console players as well.
First announced during the Xbox Games showcase last summer, Fragpunk is a 5-on-5 Hero shooter featuring shard cards that change the rules before and during matches. Promising a unique experience in each contest and helping keep things fresh for players as well. The game is set to launch with seven heroes with different specialties in things from trap placement and frontal assault to vision control and teleportation.
Although the console versions have been delayed to unknown period of time, the PC version will still be available March 6 for anyone that wants try it out. Hopefully for the dev team and for the awaiting gamers the console release isn’t too far away. The Fragpunk team promises they will be “updating players on progress every step of the way.”
