SNK has announced that Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be joining the World Esports Cup 2025. The game will be joining the World Esports Cup as an official game. This will possibly be the third fighting game for the cup. Last year, Tekken 8 and Street FIghter VI were the only two titles, in the genre, with the cast of Player Unknown Battlegrounds, Teamfight Tactics, Overwatch 2, and several others. The timing seems to be serendipitous because of the recent Fatal Fury invasion of Street Fighter VI that’s underway as well as the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 release date announcement – which also has Fatal Fury characters in tow through Capcom vs SNK Pro and Capcom vs SNK 2 re-releases.
Xiaohai(Bison / Vega) took home the Street Fighter VI title last year in the Saudi offline run against Kawano(Akuma / Gouki) in the finals with a 4 – 2. Xiaohai wasn’t shy of throwing the Level 3 super to close the bout with the 2-0 final game. Possibly, this is M. Bison getting revenge for Super Street Fighter 2’s debut of the Master of the Supreme Fist stealing the show.
No dates, prize pools, or formats, have been disclosed at the time of this writing. More titles will be announced between February 27 – 28. According to escharts, 5 other games will be announced for the cup.
