As a fan of the Hot Shot Golf series, I was delighted and confused to see a new game in the series, Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots, get announced at today’s Nintendo Direct. I mentioned my time with the series in my article Ode to the PlayStation Portable as that is the console I am most familiar with this game series on. This is a proper PlayStation Studios IP, so it is weird that it showed up at the Direct today. I am excited that it gets another chance at life though, since PlayStation essentially did nothing with it after they stopped with native handheld consoles.
The charm of the series is here and the goofy obstacles also make a return. Bandai Namco is the publisher and developer of the game but it still has a Sony license copyright meaning Sony still retains the rights of the IP.
EVERYBODY’S GOLF HOT SHOTS features the series’ classic three-button shot mechanic. Aim shots down the fairway, time three button presses and swing to success. It’s an easy to learn mechanic to begin swinging for the greens, but becoming a true ace at the game will present a challenge. Players can take to the green solo or with friends in both local couch co-op and online multiplayer. A variety of game modes, including Challenge Mode, Solo Play and more will keep players teed up for all the game has to offer. The brand new Wacky Golf mode is a fun and action-packed variation on the traditional game with a randomized variety of course alterations, obstacles, and more to keep golfers on their toes.
Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots is coming to PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam later this year.
