The Nintendo Switch 2 is the talk of the gaming world…and it’s only had a “soft reveal” so far. Part of the reason for this is that people WANT the console. Period. The OG Switch is one of the best systems ever, and many expect the Switch 2 to be just as grand. However, the key question that many are asking as we draw ever closer to its release is that of a release date. Specifically, what month in 2025 will the system come out on? On the Kit & Krysta podcast, an ex-Nintendo employee weighed on the matter.
According to “Sean,” who happened to be a member of Nintendo’s retail team once upon a time, he thinks the Nintendo Switch 2 will drop likely in June:
“They’re going to want the system to be out before the end of the summer. I would say at the start of the summer, at the end of the school year, so you have kids talking about what they’re excited for. I think we’ll see a June launch. I’m thinking maybe mid-June, or a little bit later than that. But definitely before the end of the summer, that thing’s coming out.”
Some might say, “But didn’t the OG Switch come out in March?” That’s true, it did. What’s important to point out about that release date is that Nintendo wanted that console out as soon as possible to recover from the Wii U debacle. Plus, The Big N didn’t know how well it would sell. Now, though, they have every reason to believe the Switch 2 will be a best-seller at launch and are likely trying to maximize its launch by having it released in a month when EVERYONE is free to game.
Whether this holds true…? We’ll likely find out on April 2nd!
