This brand new trailer for Kingdom Hearts III was unveiled during the conclusion of the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra performance in Los Angeles, this evening. According to fans who attended the show, the game’s director, Tetsuya Nomura was on stage, in person to present the trailer. The trailer then was released on the Square-Enix Japan Youtube channel. You can check out the new Kingdom Hearts III below for yourself… If you understand Japanese.
The trailer features Sora, Donald & Goofy battling together inside a new version of the Colosseum from Hercules. It’s interesting to note that you are “diving” into these worlds from a great height as the entry point. Other things to note are the following:
- Sora changes his clothing to suit the change in weapons
- Sora weilds a cloud themed shield for most of the early parts of the fight, using it to summon lightning to attack large numbers of enemies
- The enemies look to be some soft of armored Minotaur heartless
- Goofy launches Sora into the air and then joins him for a duo based attack
The video then confirms three of the villains from the past games, Hades, Maleficent & Pete, are back in the game as well. We are then sent further into the Hercules world where Sora is running through a section that has falling boulders caused by the Earth Titan who is standing on the top of a mountain. In this section we see Sora fighting a lot of Heartless that look like they came right out of Kingdom Hearts while also showcasing a lot of new area-of-effect magic spells and also a section where you’ll be dodging boulders being rolled at you before the Earth Titan boos fight begins.
We then get a small information dump which is all in Japanese from Xemnas (Voiced by the legendary Norio Wakamoto) talking about Roxas and come connection something has to Sora. I don’t know Japanese myself, so if there is anyone out there who is fluent in Japanese who can provide a translation, please do so in the comments.
Before the video ends, we are treated to a teaser for a new world and trailer coming during the D23 Expo 2017 on July 15. The shadow in the background shows Sora holding some sort of possibly rocket driven cone shaped weapon. Guess we’ll just have to see where this goes in a month’s time.
