Rockstar Games has been quiet since their announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2, which is slated to arrive later this year. Recently, a user took to the GTA forums to confirm that their next project would be a sequel to the 2006 cult game Bully. User Yan2295 writes:
“Bully 2 is indeed in development and is supposed to be the next game after RDR2”
While this information is entirely a rumor, this user does have a history of leaking accurate Rockstar information. Still, this is not the first time a sequel for Bully has been discussed. Dan Houser said in a 2011 interview that they would consider a sequel to Bully following the release of Max Payne 3, and that they were still committed to the franchise.
At this point all we have is speculation, but it seems a sequel to Bully is not entirely outside the realm of possibility. Bully 2 may stir up controversy the same way the original title did, but Rockstar has been known to push the envelope.
Bully remains one of Rockstar’s weirder games. It certainly didn’t meet GTA-level success, but it has developed a loyal following of fans over the decade since its release. Bully certainly has its charm, and we can only hope that Rockstar still shares the same dedication to the franchise as its fans.
