On top of dozens of other popular TV channels, PlayStation Vue, Sony’s cut-the-cord answer to cable, will be introducing a brand new channel completely dedicated to the competitive gaming community.
Competitive shooters such as Overwatch and intense fighters like Mortal Kombat X and Street Fighter, simply prove that there will be no cease in competitive gaming anytime soon. Fortunately, a recent deal made with Sony is helping to bring the exciting eSports genre to more people through their PlayStation Vue service.
By way of the Electronic Sports League, PlayStation Vue plans to bring this eSportsTV channel to their customers this upcoming summer. With the Intel Extreme Masters tour around the corner, those with the proper Vue packages will be able to catch many of the gaming events including League of Legends and the popular CS: GO once the channel officially debuts. Like other premium channels available on the PlayStation Vue service, ESL’s eSportsTV channel will be exclusive to the Elite and Ultra packages through the service.
Steven Roberts, ESL’s executive chairman, believes that this channel will be a great compliment to the service and that were getting much closer towards eSports becoming a form of mainstream entertainment. I definitely agree. Popularity and the demand for more content is already on the rise. Today, you can tune into live gaming events and stay updated with your mobile device using your Twitter app on the go!
Though there are many ways that you can tune into these events, PlayStation Vue’s inclusion of this 24 hour eSports channel will certainly become a new favorite for fans while also introducing this genre to a much larger audience.
