Nintendo Switch Sold 2.4 Million Consoles In First Month

Whether a console meets or exceed expectations is a big deal, and for the Nintendo Switch, it was paramount that it do well to “prove” that Nintendo can still make good consoles. Well, after being stated that it was the top console of March, VentureBeat is reporting that the official numbers are better than expected.

How much better? Well, they’re saying that the Nintendo Switch sold 2.4 million in its first month. Which if you recall, is 400,000 more than Nintendo thought about when they announced their intentions for the console. They claimed they would try and ship out 2 million for the “launch window”.

Here’s another thing to ponder, the Switch is sold out virtually everywhere (which is something we talked about in the latest Nintendo Entertainment Podcast!), so imagine how high the numbers would’ve been if they were able to keep it in stock worldwide.

Obviously, this is a very good thing for Nintendo, especially as we draw ever closer to E3 where a lot of big announcements should be coming. They could EASILY be over 5 million Nintendo Switch sold by then if they’re able to keep the system in stock, if not more. The only question now is, “will the games keep people coming?” That’s another thing we talked about on the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast, and will continue to talk about as they roll out.

The next big game for the system is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, how well do you think that’ll sell?
