Fans have been eagerly the next installment of the next Star Wars. After the critical success and praise Episode VII garnered, people wondered where the story would go next. The first hints to that answer come in the brand new teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi:
We see Rey getting her official Jedi training from the elusive Luke Skywalker on that island we saw them having an epic stare-down at the end of The Force Awakens. There are also some ominous images like a dark cave, an unconscious Finn in some sort of bio-chamber, and the destroyed Darth Vader helmet. It also looks like we’re going to learn what happened to the other Jedi Luke was training prior to his disappearance as well as another epic space battle and a potential showdown between Rey and Kylo Ren. Of course, most heart stopping of all is when Luke tells someone off screen “It’s time for the Jedi to end.
Many fans were concerned as to whether or not Carrie Fischer, who passed away in late 2016, would be in this film, but the actress did complete filming her scenes prior to her tragic passing. Besides the main cast from the previous film, Benicio del Toro and Laura Dern will be making appearances in currently unnamed roles.
There’s not a ton of information as to what the plot might be, or if Rey is (or will be) the last Jedi, a notion that might panic or please fans. It could also mean that the Star Wars franchise is looking to cap off the Skywalker’s story with Episode IX, which will most likely come out in 2019 or 2020. We also have the currently unnamed Han Solo movie to tide us over, but it brings up a good question: when will this Star Wars renaissance be over? Not too soon, hopefully.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres in theaters on December 15, 2017.
