Month after month, year after year, PC gamers have been asking and pleading with SEGA to have them port over Bayonetta to the PC. The original debate of the femme fatale was back during 2010 when it was released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Then we pledged again when Bayonetta 2 made its way over to the Wii U. Though it seemed that it just would never happen.
But you know how the old saying goes, “Never say never”, as Bayonetta has finally graced PC gamers with her presence. As of April 11th, 2017, SEGA and Platinum Games have ported the original Bayonetta title to the PC. But they just didn’t provide a simple port. This port includes several enhancements such as 60fps, and HD support all the way up to 4K. The title is currently available on Steam and is priced at $19.99. In addition to the game, SEGA has provided 5 track soundtrack sampler and digital art book from the original Climax Edition, enhanced with even more concept art, and exclusive wallpapers and avatars.
“We are dedicated to bringing high-quality, best practice PC conversions of our back catalogue games to our fans, and Bayonetta was a great fit.” “Bayonetta is one of the most often requested PC conversions of our games, so finally being able to launch it on Steam is fantastic. There’s more to come!” – John Clark, Senior Vice President of Commercial Publishing for SEGA Europe
After playing the title for 2 hours now, I’m happy to report that it definitely holds up. Performance-wise, I was able to push out a constant 1080p@60 fps on a mid-ranged PC with a GTX 1070, as well as 4K (using Nvidia’s DSR). There are some issues such as the cut scenes being locked at 30fps, but outside of that, the game runs fantastically.
So, thank for very much SEGA and Platinum Games, you’ve made my day. Now if you could do something about Bayonetta 2 or Vanquish, that would be great! I’m sure I’m not the only one that would appreciate that gesture.
