At Monaco Anime Game International Conferences 2017, Square Enix showed off some new screenshots of the upcoming Final Fantasy VII remake and the Kingdom Hearts III games. Speaking with Gameblog.fr, the games director Tetsuya Nomura said the following about the two games:
Kingdom Hearts III
“This is the first time we show this screenshot of Kingdom Hearts III,” director Tetsuya Nomura said. “It’s happening in Thebes and they are fighting a new model of the Heartless. The Keyblade turns into a lot of things. Here it is a shield, but it can also be transformed into a chariot. This is called Power Form.”
Final Fantasy VII Remake
“Here is a new image of Final Fantasy VII,” director Tetsuya Nomura said. “I’ve put a lot of attention into the combat system, and it’s going to happen without interruption. In meetings, we’ve had a lot of problems with the grenades.” Nomura also mentioned that allies won’t take damage from grenades.
“Here is the first boss in the game,” Nomura continued. “It’s a Scorpion, and the scenery will be partly destructible. Sorry, I asked to show a video, but the company refused. The menus are not yet final, but I will talk more on another occasion.”
Tetsuya Nomura said earlier in the year that both Kingdom Hearts III and the Final Fantasy VII remake are still a long way off. Speaking with Famitsu last month, Nomura said:
“We’re steadily progressing on production, but the wait will be be a bit longer for Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake,” Nomura, who is Director of both titles, said.
“I am very sorry, but to that degree I will make a game that meets expectations. The release of the titles themselves have still have a way to go,” he continued, adding, “in terms of the state of development, there is still some way to go.”
So keep sitting back and relaxing till we get these games… Maybe some time before Half Life 3 or Portal 3.
