If you’re like me (and don’t worry if you’re not, I’m a little crazy), you don’t desire to get rid of some of the more precious things you own. For us gamers, that means keeping our video games long after the next generation has arrived. If you’ve been doing this for a while, that means you have a lot of games from say the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance. If you did do that, like I have, you’ll definitely want to check out the Super Retro Boy.
Why? Well, it’s because this handheld device will allow you to play your original cartridges from the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance…no extra peripherals needed! This all comes from the company Retro-Bit, who clearly has a desire to please those who want to play their old games again. And who can blame them?
Sure, you can get certain Nintendo games from those three on the various Virtual Consoles or even the eShop, but not all of them are there, it’s very sparce at times. What if your favorite GBA game was a cult-classic? One that Nintendo never appreciated, and thus isn’t on the VC or eShop? Now…you have a chance to play it in its full glory.
Now yes, due to battery life of those original cartridges, it’s likely that some of your horded…I mean…preserved games won’t work like they used to. But if they do? Then I’d say go get the Super Retro boy. I mean seriously…look at that thing! It’s basically a straight up Game Boy that plays games from three different handhelds! Why wouldn’t you want that if you have the games? I’m seriously tempted. I got an old-school Pokemon, Mario, Donkey Kong, and other titles I could really get behind playing again. Just saying.
