Update: There seems to be some conflicting data regarding this at the moment. As such we’ve changed this to being a rumor until it’s confirmed.
While Nintendo unveiled the Nintendo Switch yesterday, it would seem that this short 3-mintues teaser is the only bit of info we’re going to see about the platform this year. As confirmed by Takashi Mochizuki, a Wall Street Journal technology correspondent, Nintendo isn’t prepared to release and more info this year. That includes any mention of what games we can expect to see for the Switch’s release window, technical details, and or even the region lock status. Adding to the everyone is asking about these topics, which only seems to add to everyone’s frustration with the lack of info.
Nintendo: no more official announcement would come this year on 1) game titles 2) spec details, including region-lock status.

Seems like a bad move to me. Nintendo was at an all-time high following the video from yesterday. The Nintendo Switch was on everyone’s minds and was in just about every gaming discussion I was involved with as well. For them to just clam up and not give out any info, despite the fact that the console is set to be released March 2017, isn’t a very smart move. The company needs every push it can get, especially since this Holiday season is basically a drought for Nintendo, with just Paper Mario: Color Splash carrying the WII U, followed up with Pokémon Sun and Moon and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice running backup on the 3DS. While that may seem like a decent line-up, keep in mind that this will be going up against the PlayStation VR, PlayStation 4 Pro, Battlefield 1, TitanFall 2, The Last Guardian, World of Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy XV, Dishonored 2, and several others.
Nintendo needs that win and more info to raise the excitement levels for the Switch could have been that win.
