Remedy Entertainment has split into two development teams, each of which are working on a new game.
In a post on their website, Remedy’s head of communication Thomas Puha addresses the recent success that the game studio has had with Quantum Break on Xbox One, as well as mentioning that it will continue to evolve, with a new update incoming. He then goes on to talk about the future, offering the following:
As for the future, we have some very exciting news to share. Moving forward, we want to create more games and hopefully get them out more often. In order to achieve this, Remedy has expanded into two game development teams.
For a while now already, we’ve been developing a brand new Remedy game with a new partner. Our second team is working on an early concept, which will turn into another Remedy game sometime in the future.
We can’t wait to show and tell your more about these new projects, but if there’s anything we’ve learned from the past, it’s that we should have the patience to announce games when they’re ready enough. So don’t expect us take the stage at E3 or gamescom this year.
In addition, in an interview with Polygon, Puha confirmed that neither game currently being worked on by Remedy is a sequel to Alan Wake. The first game is a new AAA IP being worked on with a new partner (not Microsoft), while the other is also AAA and still in early concept stages, according to Remedy business director Johannes Paloheimo. Puha also confirmed via Twitter that neither project is a VR game.
Also, we are not working on VR games. Lots of us at @remedygames like VR, but its not for us right now.
