Bethesda Studios tweeted out a primer today in preparation for tomorrow’s release of Fallout 4’s first “expansion size” DLC, Far Harbor. The information published includes story, enemy, and gear details.
While the Lone Survivor will be drawn to Maine along with Nick Valentine in search of a missing child, the two will stumble upon a larger conflict. Far Harbor will feature three factions: the human residents, the Children of Atom, and the Synths. The latter will be found trying to keep the peace as the former two are at each other’s throats. Players will also be able to find a new companion named Longfellow. According to Bethesda, he is similar to Quint from Jaws: knowledgeable yet ill-tempered.
Being that the island is heavily irradiated (even more so than the Commonwealth) there will be some scary new creatures to fight. Or avoid, if one so chooses. They include, according to the developer, monsters larger than Deathclaws. Keep in mind that, according to the leaked trophy list, players will also encounter “sea monsters”.
Bethesda ends by talking about some new items players will find, “In Far Harbor you’ll find a lever-action rifle, a whaling-inspired harpoon gun, new fishhook and meat hook melee weapons, and the radium rifle, a submachine gun favored by the Children of Atom that spews radioactive bullets.” Additionally, there will be new top-tier armor (most notably the “Marine Armor”.
The developers have also shared the estimated times that the DLC will release by zone. They are as follows:
Xbox One/PlayStation 4
