This week, Tales of Zestiria the X (pronounced as “cross) received some more good news about the anime’s production.
Just last June, we got a small taste of what was to come in Bandai Namco‘s 20th anniversay of Tales short animation. Not much was directly said about a plot summary or the official release date. However, the animation studio Ufotable will be producing the animation of Tales of Zestiria the X. Ufotable is responsible for bringing us the cut scenes of previous Tales games and the popular Fate/Zero anime. From what we’ve seen in their short teaser in the 20th anniversary animation as well as their previous works, we can be sure to expect great results in the final product. Three days ago, Twitter user yinyi982 spotted a banner bearing an announcement for the anime of Tales of Zestiria. This photograph was taken on the location of the upcoming Anime Japan 2016 convention:
Some fans were quick to suspect this to be an early April Fool’s hoax. However, the anime website Daisuki actually uploaded the first official promotional video just one day before the photo was taken.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bltrf7dHULA]The mention of Ufotable confirms the studio’s participation in the project. Although, it is unlikely that we will see reused dialogue and locations from the video game. The video was accompanied with a vague insight to the plot. So far, we can tell that this will not be taken directly from the video game as a direct adaptation. Instead, the anime will expand on the story’s post-game events. While we won’t be seeing a return of Superfly with the song “White Light,” fans of J-rock will still be pleased to see the band Flow will be taking their place for the anime’s opening song.
More details will be announced closer to the planned month of release.
Tales of Zestiria the X will air this summer of 2016.
