Just announced during the GDC 2016 event, Square Enix has announced that their upcoming revival of classic RPG’s, I Am Setuna, will be making it’s way over to not just the PlayStation 4 but also the PC via Steam. There’s been a resurgence of jrpg’s making their way over to the PC, while many of them have either been ports of previous titles, it’s nice to see that this upcoming title has been thought of with the PC gamers in mind. Especially since many of them have grown up with past Square Enix titles such as Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger and more.
At this year’s Game Developers Conference, the newest studio within the Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. (“Square Enix®”) group of companies, Tokyo RPG Factory, was on hand to reveal its debut title — I AM SETSUNA™. The title is slated for digital release for the west this summer on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Steam.
Led by director Atsushi Hashimoto, Tokyo RPG Factory aims to capture the narrative depth, impactful storytelling and masterful character development inspired by the golden era of Japanese role-playing games and bring them to current hardware and technology. With a battle system inspired by the classic hit CHRONO TRIGGER®, I AM SETSUNA brings back authentic RPG gameplay, beautiful art design and a sorrowful story to the new generation.
Sadly, while the original trailer showed off not only a PlayStation 4 but also a PS Vita version, it seems to have been removed from the website and no other mention of it can be found.
Now, if I can only get the image of Setsuna F Seiei out of my head when I read the title of the game.
