It was announced on Monday that the anime adaptation of Daisuke Ashihara’s World Trigger manga will come to an end at the conclusion of the spring anime season. This comes as a shock to many as World Trigger just returned from the Fugitive filler arc and resumed canon material with the B-Rank Wars arc. TV Asahi announced plans to run a sports program in World Trigger‘s time slot starting in April.
The anime began airing in October of 2014 and at the time of this writing, has 69 episodes aired with 3 more to go before the end of the season. The manga began publishing in February 2013 and currently runs in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen JUMP magazine. Viz Media publishes the manga in North America.
