The 11th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen JUMP magazine announced on Monday 2/15/16 that the next chapter of Yusei Matsui’s Assassination Classroom (Ansatsu Kyoushitsu in Japanese) manga, which will launch on February 22, 2016, will be the “climax of the final mission.” When translated, it is being referred to as the final chapter of the manga and will see the conclusion of the final battle. Assassination Classroom will be featured on the issue’s front cover and will feature special color opening pages.
The manga launched in July of 2012 and has over 20 million copies in print. The 18th and 19th volumes of the manga are set to release in Japan on March 4 and April 4 2016 respectively. VIZ Media is releasing the manga in English and currently has 8 volumes released which cover up to where the first season of the anime ends. Assassination Classroom currently has a second season of its anime airing in Japan and FUNimation is streaming it simultaneously with each episode’s release. Assassination Classroom also inspired two live-action movies, the first of which opened in Japan in March of 2015 and the second is slated to be released in March of 2016.
According to VIZ Media, the story is as described:
“A humorous and action-packed story about a class of misfits who are trying to kill their new teacher – an alien octopus with bizarre powers and super strength! The teacher has just destroyed the moon and is threatening to destroy the earth – unless his students can destroy him first. What makes things more complicated is that he’s the best teacher they’ve ever had!”
