FUNimation made the announcement on Friday that Dimension W will be airing Adult Swim’s Toonami anime block starting February 27, 2016 as 12:30 a.m. (technically Sunday morning.) This is a first as FUNimation will air the English dub of a show before they themselves offer it on their own website. FUNimation is scheduled to begin streaming the dub on their site two weeks after the premier on Toonami. FUNimation announced the dub cast for Dimension W as follows:
Kyoma – Christopher R. Sabat
Albert – Eric Vale
Mira – Jad Saxton
Loser – J. Michael Tatum
Mary – Stephanie Young
Koorogi – Josh Grelle
Shido – Jeremy Schwartz
FUNimation goes on to describe the story of Dimension W as follows:
“In the year 2071, the world’s energy problems seem solved by a network of cross-dimensional electric-field inductors- “coils” -that extract energy from a seemingly infinite source. That source is the W dimension, a fourth plane that exists beyond the X, Y, and Z dimensions.
In this world, unofficial “illegal” coils harness powers that the police can’t hope to counter. Dealing with these coils is the job of coil-hating repo man Kyoma, whose run-in with the unique coil android Mira leads the two to form a reluctant partnership.”
Dimension W is still airing in Japan, making this one of those rare times where a television anime will be broadcast on U.S. television, in English, at the same time as the series is still airing its original run on Japanese television. Dimension W started airing in Japan on January 10, 2016 and currently has five episodes out as of the time of this writing. FUNimation is streaming the Japanese version with English subtitles on the same day as it airs in Japan as well.
