News has come by way of the Playstation Blog that Knights and Bikes, a Kickstarter project previously announced for PC and Mac, will now be coming to the PS4 as well. For some, this comes as little surprise. Foam Sword, the studio working on the title, is composed of veterans from Media Molecule and the Ratchet and Clank series. The developers there share a long relationship with Sony; developer Moo Yu posted the following on the Playstation Blog: “Yeah. We really do love playstation. We just had to dot all the Is and cross all the Ts (sic)…”
According to the campaign’s site, Knights and Bikes is “A co-op adventure about childhood, inspired by The Goonies & Earthbound…” Looking to classic SNES action-RPGs for gameplay inspiration and using a beautiful hand-drawn aesthetic, the game has made an undeniable impression on those who have seen it. As for as a resume goes, members of Foam Sword have quite a pedigree, having worked on the aforementioned Ratchet and Clank, LittleBigPlanet, and Tearaway series. Currently, the Kickstarter campaign sits at approximately $78,000 (USD), with 1,907 backers. The goal is $142, 577 by March 3rd, at 4:00 PM (EST).
If you haven’t guessed, I’m very much hoping this campaign hits its goal. As a classic RPG nut, this game looks like it could scratch an itch that has grown very irritating since I finished Child of Light. Also, I love The Goonies.
