Christmas has always been a strong week for Nintendo sales in Japan and this year is no different. Despite the naysayers Nintendo dominated in both software and hardware sales. Monster Strike for 3DS, which just released on December 17th, added an impressive 211,411 units to its sales numbers. Splatoon for Wii U, released back in May, sold another 98,096 units, proving its success and the power that Nintendo has in creating original and new titles, outselling even Super Mario Maker which was released in September of this year. In software Nintendo sales held the top 5 spots and both the New 3DS and the Wii U were the top-selling consoles in Japan, moving 155,397 and 101,122 units respectively.
