The second volume of So Cute It Hurts picked up right where Volume 1 left off as expected. It was here that Ikeyamada-san devoted a couple of chapters each to one of the twins. Megumi and Sanada got their time to develop and then the volume switched gears to focus on Misturu and Shino. The stories of each twin intertwine when Shino asks Mitsuru to accompany her somewhere that she’s usually too afraid to visit on her own. That place is Mitsuru’s actual school and it is here things take an interesting turn between our four main characters.
The situation ends up paving the way to some really nice character development for Aoi while setting up good bits and pieces for Mitsuru, Megumu, and Shino. Soon after the stories intertwine, they head back to getting their own individual spotlights once again. Megumu and Mitsuru both get some more development and the story moves forward to a rather huge cliffhanger ending that is sure to leave readers begging for volume three.
Final Word:
I really loved Aoi’s character development in this volume. There are so many components to him that were introduced that you just want to know more about him. Ikeyamada-san didn’t unveil everything as he is still shrouded in quite a few mysteries, but the seeds have been planted for further discovery. The cliffhanger also was nicely pulled off, but I felt it came just a tad too soon. I would have liked to have seen that burned just a little more slowly, but nevertheless, it’s here and it just means that things are going to get a bit more interesting from here on out. There are many different directions that they can take with this and I’m excited to see where it’s going to be heading.
This a highly enjoyable read that has me hooked! So Cute it Hurts is definitely a series that I’m looking forward to reading more of it! If you are a fan of the romantic comedy genre, this is one series you should consider checking out for sure.
