Recently reported over at Neogaf and confirmed by Bethesda over on Joystiq.com was the announcement that IDsoftware has laid off an unconfirmed number of employees as part of their “standard business practice”. It always stinks to see people lose their job especially when the ecocomy is as bad as it is now, here’s to hoping those let go land on their feet sooner than later.
IDsoftware also reports that this will not affect ongoing project’s such as the the lastest title that has been in devolepment for the past 3 years now, DooM 4.
My money is on Rage not doing the numbers that IDsoftware hoped it would, but let’s be real for a second. A title that the was launched on both the FPS crowded Xbox 360/ PS3, with a cripped version that was riddled with bugs for the PC launch (It didn’t even have an option for V-Sync) I’m not suprised.
On a side note: Here’s to hoping that the lead platform for Doom 4 isn’t a console this time around.
