Today Bethesda tweeted out a link to a new, official, website that looks to countdown to an announcement concerning the next Fallout game!
Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Bethesda would host their own E3 conference this year and immediately speculation began about Fallout 4. With Fallout 3 releasing in 2008, Fallout: New Vegas releasing in 2010, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim releasing in 2011, and The Elder Scrolls Online releasing in 2014 for PC and a console version coming soon; Fallout 4 was seemingly the only game that would prove worthy of Bethesda holding it’s own E3 conference.
Now, with a single tweet, Bethesda has either pulled one of the biggest hoax ever or answered one of the biggest prayers from the gaming community! If you were to follow the link to the new website fallout.bethesda.com, you would be greeted by the ever familiar ‘technical difficulties’ screen from the loading menu of Fallout 3. That screen comes with the words “PLEASE STAND BY” and a timer counting down to something. (If you were to continue down you would read the Bethesda copyrights and fine printing.)
Thanks to Polygon, if you were to look at the source code for the site you would find this text:
PA system failure has occured.
Shutdown of the Masterbrain has been authorized and all sensitive materials have been removed for security purposes.
Please attempt re-access. Have a pleasant day.
The timer will expire at 10:00 AM ET/ 7:00 AM PT tomorrow, 6/3/2015. Let’s wait and see how this goes!
