The DC Comics themes Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game Infinite Crisis is set to shut down on August 14th, 2015. While having only fully released on March 26th, the game was available through various beta phases prior. The game also had a position in the eSports scene, with popular organizations like Dignitas, Na’Vi and Epsilon hosting teams.
While some of the community aren’t too surprised with the announcement, with League of Legends (LoL) and Defense of the Ancients 2 (DOTA 2) dominating the MOBA genre, the DC Comics characters were a big draw for what was perhaps a niche audience, and the closure has left many in disappointment.
Until August 14th the game will remain online, but development has already ceased. Steam is offering a full refund to any players that have purchased either the Starter or Elite packages. Refund submissions can be found here.
My condolences to the playerbase. It’s always a sad day when a game shut down, and Infinite Crisis barely had its time in the sun.
