For the past week, Rockstar Games was pretty adamant that the release date for Grand Theft Auto 5 for the PC was not going to be pushed back and would release on January 27, 2015. In fact they stated this several times.
“GTAV will be coming to PC on January 27th. We have not announced any changes to this date at this time.”
Well seems there maybe some confusion on their part as they have now come out and stated that the release date has indeed been pushed back until March 24th, 2015.
Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be. Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice we make only when we know it is in the best interests of the game and our fans. Thanks everyone for your understanding and we assure you these few extra weeks will be worth it when the game does arrive in March.
Now I’m sure that delays don’t exactly make anyone happy, Rockstar Games included, but at the same time I’d rather have a polished game instead of a incomplete and buggy one. So Rockstar, take all the time you need to get this right.
