As we talked about in the newest Nintendo Entertainment Podcast episode, the hype behind Pokemon Legends Z-A continues to be “mixed” at best. Some people aren’t sure about the visuals, others aren’t exactly hyped about the setting, and we pretty much all are mad that we don’t have a release date for it yet. However, there is still hope for it to be a worthy game, and a rating might indicate that there’s more going on than we suspect. On the official Nintendo page for the game, the ESRB has rated the title E10+. That’s the first mainline game in the franchise to receive such a ranking.
Now, before anyone panics about what this means, it’s likely that the updated real-time combat, which will feature the trainers and their Pokemon moving around the battlefield, is the cause of this “uptick in rating. There have been other Pokemon titles that have gotten the E10+ rating, but those were spinoffs, so that’s why it may not have registered.
Either way, Pokemon Legends Z-A has a lot to do before its release on Nintendo Switch (and maybe Switch 2?) later this year.
