When it comes to mobile or handheld gaming, the Asus ROG Ally is my go-to machine. I installed Bazzite on it, so I have access to the Steam OS, which is superior to Windows, and I’ve been having a great time. Except, despite what Asus has said, the battery life still sucks and I have to carry a battery pack with me or stay near an outlet. Which puts a hamper on getting my game on and having the device power off in a heated session. Thankfully, it seems that JSAUX has once again come to save the day with a new 65Wh Extended Battery to replace the 40Wh battery that comes stock with the device.
According to JSAUX, this extended battery will provide up to 50% more battery life, of course, that depends on what kind of game you’re playing. Along with this battery is a newly designed backplate for the Asus ROG Ally, that includes an updated aluminum heatshield that will help the ROG Ally run cooler, which is also good for battery life.
Even better, swapping out the battery is pretty simple, and should only take less than 20 minutes (or longer if you’re being super cautious).
This extended battery is only for the Asus ROG Ally, not the Ally X, which comes with an 80Wh battery. There’s no reason to downgrade your already incredible battery. Maybe JSAUX can come up with an extended battery for the Ally X, a 100Wh one? Now, that would be nice.
Just keep in mind that if you do purchase this and perform the swap, make sure you tighten all the screws. Otherwise, the device will not power back on. Trust me, I learned that from my own experiences.
You can purchase this new battery over on the JSAUX online store for $79.99.
