There are certain shows that just transcend media itself, and one of those shows was Avatar The Last Airbender. This incredible series debuted on Nickelodeon quite a while ago and blew many people’s minds with its incredible animation, beautiful storytelling, and more memorable characters. I was one of many “Day One” fans, and then, when Legend of Korra arrived, we couldn’t wait to watch it, too. Since then, there have been many comic releases, live-action adaptations, and the birth of Avatar Studios, who today announced the official name of the third series in this franchise: Avatar: Seven Havens.
While no art has been released, Avatar: Seven Havens does have details on its plot, world, and Avatar, thanks to a press release. For example, the franchise’s original creators and the heads of Avatar Studios, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, are behind the new project. The series will have two “Books” for a total of 26 episodes.
The third series is “set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”
That’s indeed a very different way of handling things, given how Legend of Korra ended. No release date has been given, but I know I speak for Avatar fans when I say this will be something good to watch, no doubt.
