Nintendo Ranked Highly In New Japanese Salary Report

One of many reasons to go work for them.

Nintendo Confirms No Use of Generative AI for First-Party Games

Look, if we’re being honest, while we all want to enjoy our “dream jobs” one day, we also hope that those jobs are able to pay us at least mostly well, if not REALLY well. After all, if we’re giving our all for our work, shouldn’t we be compensated well for it? Japan has a history of doing just that, even in places like video games. So, when Diamond Online looked at certain regions of Japan and determined who paid the best among them, Nintendo ranked No.2 in the Western region.

Specifically, they had the “second highest average annual salary among companies in western Japan in 2024.” For the record, all companies and industries were considered when making this report. When converting Yen to US Dollars, the average employee made about $62,000. The only company they were behind was Screen Holdings, which makes semiconductors.

It was noted last year that in all of Japan, Nintendo was in the top 3 of “most sought after” places to work, and with the upcoming launch of the Switch 2, you can bet that the company’s profits will soon skyrocket again, which could increase salaries…and thus bring more workers to the company.
