Outside of the The Game Awards run and Virtua Fighter Direct, Sega announced that Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. is currently live, on Steam, with a beta that will go until December 17th. The full launch of R.E.V.O. will be January 28th, 2025.
As this beta was released, Sega also updated Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, on PlayStation 4, to Version 2.0. Noticeable changes such as wide balance changes and additional moves, from Virtua Fighter 5 R, have been added to replace some inputs. Some combo setups, from Ultimate Showdown, may not work in this version, so it’s best to lab before re-entering. This is Virtua Fighter 5 in its’ final form, says Sega.
At the current time, the Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. Open Beta seems to be more in tune with Ultimate Showdown’s base game as Legendary Pack’s Virtua Fighter-inspired polygon skins are not yet available. Arcade, Ranked, Room, Training modes, and Versus, are available to get back into. Tournament and weekly League Tourney may also be available, and the game does run on Steam Deck fairly well. December 17th is just enough time to get to Storm Lord ranks.
Preordering Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. now will get you 20% off the game and a Sega Commemoration Pack that allows Megadrive(Genesis), Saturn, and Dreamcast, system decorations to be used on the backs of any of the 19 characters in customization mode.

How About Some Good *** Tekken?
Unfortunately, just like Tekken Project’s Katsuhiro Harada’s guest character promise from the series to appear in Tekken 8: the Tekken 7 collaboration DLC pack does not seem to be included, with R.E.V.O., thus far. Since Virtua Fighter (6?) has been announced, perhaps there could be a change in the wind for Tekken 8 season 2 since Clive’s already in. I’m already looking at Akira Yuki or Pai Chan. Siba would be my next choice: we haven’t seen him since ’96.
