With the advent of A.I. tools, we knew it was only a matter of time before anime would be created by such tools. In the Spring of 2025, Twins HinaHima is set to release and the show is 95% produced by artificial intelligence.
The staff for the show is made up of animators, art directors, cinematographers, and CG staff who normally work on Netflix originals and TV series.
The story of Twins HinaHima focuses on Himari and Hinana, two girls who are first-year students at a high school in Tokyo. Their dream is to go viral online by creating TikTok dance videos and branding out into other trending topics. Despite their goal, they end up encountering anomalies that pull them into a new world.
The anime is being produced by KaKa Creation, a young company based in Tokyo that specializes in AI-assisted animation. In addition, Frontier Works is assisting with the project.
The biggest contributor to the project is Makoto Tezuka, son of legendary mangaka Osamu Tezuka, who also has a long history of experimenting with technology in filmmaking. Also attached to the project is Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, who is the manga artist and animation director behind Mobile Suit Gundam.
