It looks like Tekken 8 will be gearing up to reveal some of the latest news from the game at The Game Awards this Thursday. Bandai Namco released a trailer to let people know about the forthcoming Season 2 DLC. With about a year since its’ release, Tekken 8 brought back favorites Eddy, Lidia, and once thought to be dead – Heihachi – back onto the roster. Lidia’s second appearance in a Tekken game has been pretty positive. Heihachi’s return shocked many fans during Evo 2024.
The next patch will be bringing in a slew of updates including a new balance patch, more items for photo editor mode, bonus levels to the Fight Pass, fan art for the versus screen, custom edit characters for the main menu. The recent update allowed players to switch to other characters for this part. There will also be Tekken 30th Anniversary Edition swag for characters. Heihachi in a 59-Fifty with his Robotnik style face on it is pretty dope. Spring will have new moves for all characters and where Season 2 will start. Want to make a character smile during a shot? you can! Gun fingers? you can!
In one of the shots, it’s revealed that we’ll probably get to solve one of Tekken 8’s biggest mysteries: who is actually shooting at Nina during one of her victory poses? a helicopter is shown in the trailer with a distinctive rose and lipstick. All hints are pointing to Nina’s scariest rival – her kid sister Anna Williams. Anna has made appearances in almost every Tekken game since her debut with a grudge against her sister. Assassins gonna assassinate and these two don’t seem to be getting it right with each other. As to where Anna will appear, it’s most likely that she’ll be starting off Season 2.
The 2025 Tekken World Tour will also be starting. With Arslan Ash eating his words over Rangchu (Kuma) as he took it it over Atif (Dragunov, Nina), next year’s World Tour is around the corner. The trailer also brings that to light, also. No new character was revealed at the 2024 Tekken World Tour.
Tekken 8 may have its’ work cut out for it in The Game Awards. The game will be facing a previous winner, Multiversus, and Dragonball Sparking Zero for the title. We’ll have to watch this Thursday for what Namco Bandai has in store for Tekken 8.
