Kim Dong Hwan will be making his way back to South Town for the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves roster. SNK has released a trailer for Dong’s gameplay.
First introduced in Fatal Fury 2 as a background character, a few cameos in Real Bout, and joined the King of Fighters: Maximum Meyhem tournament in the previous entry Mark of the Wolves, Dong Hwan is one of the representatives of Taekwon-Do. All this since dear ol’ dad Kim has been taken out of commission. Dong Hwan is the not-so-serious-but-older brother between the two next to his brother Jae Hoon. The top gi is officially gone from this new look. This seems to be something a lot of new martial artists, in fighting games whose been more traditional, seem to be doing now.
Dong sports a hit-and-run style with mostly aerial flare. Dong’s multi-hit specials are still electrically charged and ready to go. His stomp attacks do not launch as they usually do more times than to extend his combos. The spins are still around, also. Dong looks to have retained his mid-tier spot for now with several push offensive moves. More solid gameplay should be forthcoming post the Tokyo Game Show to show off Kim’s prowess. Jerron Bacat of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty fame will be voicing Dong’s English take.
Who else is coming to Southtown?
With 5 characters left in the base 17-man roster, the rest of the Southtown crew will be hard to guess after this point. Jae Hoon, the serious brother, has yet to be seen in the new entry. However, there’s hope that he will dodge the DLC bullet and leave that roster to Street Fighter 6’s Chun-Li and Ken’s appearances in the next year. As told by SNK, some veteran faces from the series will be set to appear in City of the Wolves. Mai and Terry can’t have all the fun.
There is a possibility of another certain ninja character, from the original 3 wolves, coming back to take reigns. The official big bad has to make an appearance yet, but there has been speculation that a certain antagonist of the series may be all but dead and gone as we all believed. Thanks to Heihachi’s return to Tekken 8, the return of Geese Howard could all be coming to pass. Maybe Cristiano Ronaldo might be jumping in.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be available on April 24th for PlayStation 4 | 5, Xbox Series X | S, and Steam.
