Harley Quinn Season 5 To Get Big “Location Change”

What's the opposite of Gotham...?
By Todd BlackSeptember 14, 2024
Harley Quinn Season 5

Given everything that’s gone on with DC Comics over the last decade (and it’s been a lot,) it’s honestly kind of hilarious that the most enduring thing is the Harley Quinn animated series. No, really! It’s been on multiple different platforms, the fans keep showing their love for it, thus it keeps getting renewals, and it even got a Kite-Man spinoff! What are the odds? So, with the upcoming Harley Quinn Season 5, fans are eager to get back into the antics with Harley, Ivy, and the rest of the insane universe. The question is, where do they go from here?

As noted in my Season 4 review, a lot of things changed, and it ended with a resurrected Nightwing and the formation of the Gotham City Sirens. But, as series executive producers Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker noted to ComicBook.com, you won’t be seeing the Sirens, or many other characters, in Gotham…they’re going…somewhere else to “spice things up” a bit:

“You’ll see Harley Season 5, hopefully soon. We don’t have the exact air date so there’s that to look forward to which continues sort of the story of Harley and Ivy’s relationship,” Schumacker noted. “I could tease that there’s a big sort of location move. There’s been a teaser that’s been presented at Comic-Con so I don’t think I’m saying anything out of school when I say a lot of the show this season five takes place in Metropolis. Harley and Ivy decide to spice their relationship up with a change of scenery.”

We have seen Metropolis in the past (such as when Harley tried to capture Lois Lane to make Superman fight her), but this will be a “bigger shift,” and the reason why is simple:

“I can say we were very interested in the idea that Metropolis is always this like, beautiful shining city on the hill and Gotham just is, you know, a cesspool and that it almost feels like Gotham is subsidized for Metropolis’s gain. So, we were interested in that idea,” Halpern added.

The show has been nuts and subverted expectations many times over, so Harley Quinn Season 5 will definitely continue that trend…whenever it arrives.
