It’s been quite some time since Nintendo announced its “mobile initiative,” which was meant to help bring the beloved IPs of The Big N to mobile platforms to grant them more exposure. To be honest, the results have been mixed. The Mario titles they made were basic or were shut down. Fire Emblem Heroes has easily been the most successful due to its “gacha-style” gameplay, and then, there was Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. The game was meant to be true pocket-sized version of the life simulator, and it did rather well.
However, as Nintendo noted today on a special FAQ page, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp will shut down on November 29th. The twist is that Nintendo isn’t letting the game truly die. While they are getting rid of all microtransactions and other online elements, they are making a paid version of the game where you’ll get to buy it outright and then continue your camp.
You’ll also be able to transfer your previous data to the paid version so you don’t have to start from scratch. So, if you’ve been enjoying this game for a while, you can keep enjoying it, just after you make one last payment.
