Today, Ubisoft released the first episode of a new dev diary series for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The episode titled “One Duo – Two Playstyles” sees developers behind the upcoming game explaining the difference between Naoe and Yasuke the two playable characters. For those wondering what the main difference between the characters would be and why you should care about them, now you finally get some answers.

The gameplay of each protagonist looks very different from the agility and speed of Naoe to the brute force of Yasuke. I’m very excited to see how both characters, control-wise. Most of all, I’m excited about the option to tackle the same mission in very different ways; something I believe will add a level of replayability rarely seen in the franchise.
Set in 16th-century Japan towards the end of the Sengoku period, Assassin’s Creed Shadows focuses on the millennia-old struggle of the Assassin Brotherhood, who fight for peace and liberty, and the Templar Order, who desire peace through control, from the perspective of two protagonists: Naoe, a female shinobi, and Yasuke, an African samurai inspired by the historical figure of the same name.
The Assassin’s Creed Shadows release date is November 15, 2024, for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
