Just like clockwork, or train schedule, Terry Bogard’s Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves gameplay trailer dropped. Following up on the Rock Howard drop earlier yesterday, Terry’s very own has come right behind it. Serving in a sense as the rival or old guard of the Mark of the Wolves saga, Terry has returned.
Terry has taken the lead role since the original Fatal Fury and has held the title for decades. Terry was also the first character, from the Fatal Fury series, to come back to Southtown’s King of Fighters tournament after the time jump for Garou. Terry is Rock’s adopted father after the death of Geese Howard.
Terry’s arsenal gets nasty with several cancels from most of his iconic specials. The Rising Tackle canceled into Power Dunk with some spicy “off the ground” opportunities post hit similar to his King of Fighters XV move. Terry is clearly a force. The cyclone Potential move does look similar to his anime finishing move.
Easter Eggs In The City Of The Wolves
Terry’s stage has seemed to reverted back to his Fatal Fury 2 stage. Unlike his Mark of The Wolves original run, this train doesn’t seem to pull into the station at all. A peculiar Mount Rushmore is seen in the background with some cameos once lost to their titles. Of course, we have classic Billy Kane, luchador Laurence Blood, and the third recognizable face may be Wolfgang Krauser. Laurence Blood and Wolfgang Krauser’s final appearances were also Real Bout 2. Blood is also one of Krauser’s lackeys similar to Vega / Balrog’s relation to Shadowloo’s M. Bison.
Also, a few small ducks can be seen in the background, waddling around. The chicks do resemble a few chicks that a certain Southtown breakdance fighter has had in the past, but has not been seen too often outside of King of Fighters XI. SNK has stated that the roster is a mix of old and new Fatal Fury characters, so the chances of seeing Duck King return are not so farfetched.
Who Else Is Coming Back To Southtown?
With Terry and Rock out of the woods, and my wager out, the two faces of the series are now out with their gameplay wares. About 8 fighters have been shown so far, which begs the question of the roster size. We’re about 3 quarters into the year. There’s no telling where SNK will go next with this game. Thanks to character stages, there could be hints from the trailers that could shed more light. I’m still thinking the Kims and/or Gato are next, but Hotaru, Preecha, and Griffinmask, will get their trailers soon. Michael Schneider voices Terry’s English voiceover.
Fatal Fury: City of The Wolves has an early 2025 release window.
