During today’s Ubisoft Forward presentation, we got our first full look at gameplay for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Initially revealed with a cinematic trailer and character introduction back in May, Assassin’s fans have been waiting to see the first full gameplay.
We can see in the gameplay that both characters Yasuke and Naoe have a very unique style, with advantages and disadvantages. Yasuke is much bigger and therefore slower but hits heavy and can take more damage thanks to his samurai armour. Naoe on the other hand is much more agile and capable in stealth as a shinobi should be. She can crawl through long grass or hide underwater using a stick to breathe through.
I thought the gameplay looked great and the ability to choose which character to tackle certain missions with each being so different could lead to some really unique experiences.
For more details and developer insight on Assassin’s Creed Shadows, I would highly recommend checking out the Combat and Stealth Evolved video. It was part of the Ubisoft Forward post-show which has the same gameplay segment but with developer commentary. This adds context to how certain gameplay aspects work along with explaining how and why your experience might differ depending on when you choose to tackle missions.
