If there ever were a game that firmly belongs under the “we have no idea what happened to it” column, it would be Metal Slug Tactics. Many of us had no idea what happened to it, but now, we’re about to get bombarded with lots of information, including a recently revealed launch trailer and a fully playable demo that will arrive during Steam Next Fest very soon.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Metal Slug Tactics is a new take on the iconic run-and-gun shooter from SNK. Debuting on the Neo Geo, Metal Slug was SNK’s answer to Konami’s Contra series (1996), and ever since then, the two have been bumping heads with each other and providing fantastic side-scrolling shoot ’em-up action. Metal Slug Tactics, on the other hand, is a tactic RPG where you’ll see familiar characters, bosses and more.
Developed by Leikir Studio and Dotemu, the same studio that gave the world Streets of Rage 4 and, more recently, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. Not to mention that Tee Lopes is along for the ride, composing what I can definitely assure you will be an amazing soundtrack.
Moreover, the game will be available on all platforms, unlike its initial reveal for the Switch and PC. Metal Slug Tactics will now grace the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
